Improve Your Life By Improving Yourself

The path to personal development has many obstacles and you may feel that you have no idea where to start. Once you begin to look around, you will discover that there is a wealth of information to sort through to find what you need. If you are looking for some simple but effective tips, take a look at the article below.

One way to accelerate your personal development progress is to keep a journal devoted to the subject. This need not be a lengthy, soul-searching document. Even simply jotting down the goals you set will help you keep them in mind. Adding more information about the steps you are taking towards those goals will make your efforts more organized.

Keep yourself around positive people. Being around people that are positive can be contagious and will change you way of thinking. It is a bad idea for someone that is depressed to be around those who think negative. It can worsen their depression and cause more negative thinking, which is exactly what you don't want to do.

Working on personal development does not mean that you need to better yourself constantly but that you are always working on some aspect of yourself. You can try to fit this into your free time by using your time efficiently, such as practicing a language while stuck in traffic with a book on tape.

Value what is important to you. We have been raised to make compromises, but why should you conform if it makes you unhappy? Break your old habits and follow what really matters to you. If something is really dear to you, organize your lifestyle around it and make compromises in favor of what matters to you.

On your path to personal development, remember that your whole self is made of many parts. For example, if you have any chronic health conditions, remember that these can absolutely affect your mindset and perspective. If you take care of your body, your body will reward you with positivity.

For a fresh perspective, try on another ideology for size. A Buddhist way of thinking often entails disposing of your ego and seeing the world as one thriving organism. In this sense, your impact on the world goes as far as your positive energy can take you. Try a new perspective to enhance your other personal development efforts. You might be surprised at how well it works!

Being too hard on yourself is a sure fire way of going through life the hard way. We are all human, and just as overcorrecting a child will cause them to withdraw or focus on the fear of failure, being hard on yourself will discourage you! You need to encourage yourself in as many ways as possible to keep you on a positive and productive path.

All it takes to begin being a better person and enjoy the life you deserve, is for you to take the first step. You still have many things to learn, but apply the information in the tips above and you will be on your way. Overcome the obstacles that stand in your way and be the best you can be.

Even when we screw up, life is on our side!

FYI: If you currently struggling with an eating disorder or are in recovery from an eating disorder, this post might be triggering for you. xo
Life is on our side. Life is always willing to be on our side. Even when we screw up, life is on our side. But Life also respects the fact that we have free will. And this means that we always have the power of choice in any given circumstance. What happens after we have made a choice is just the result of making a choice. Either it results in a positive effect or a negative effect.
I think we have the tendency to think life is only on our side when something positive happens. But when something negative happens as a result of a choice that we made, we have a tendency to go into victim mode. So, say you ate a food that really triggers you or you drank a drink that triggers you to overeat, or you texted a guy you know isn’t right for you. We sometimes have a tendency to go into victim mode. “Ugh, I can’t believe I did this again.”
If we’re truly committed to our spiritual path, we will further that statement. “Ugh, I can’t believe this happened again. Obviously there is a pattern being repeated here, which means there is a lesson to learn. I’m ready to work on it.”
I’ll give you a perfect example. Last night, I went to the beach with my girlfriends.  We had a beautiful picnic on the beach and enjoyed awesome salads and blueberries. Also included in the spread was a bag of multigrain chips. They’re gluten-free, so they’re fair game for me. But really, they’re not. After being in active recovery from an eating disorder, I know my trigger foods (the foods that I need to avoid at all costs). They include pretzels, popcorn, and anything that crosses that salty-crunchy line. For some people, it’s ice cream or cookies. For me, it’s salty snacky foods. I saw the chips and was like, “Oh sure, I’ll have a few. I can totally control myself.” I felt like I was far along enough in my recovery to do that.
Well, turns out not. Once the salty goodness hit my lips, I kept taking small handfuls and found myself mindlessly snacking and laughing away with my friends. We were having an awesome time but – mid third handful – I noticed that I was totally out of control! I asked my friend to take the chips away and she wrapped them up. Then, we continued on and had an awesome night.
Now, three years ago, that would have ruined my night. I would have beat myself up for mindlessly snacking and I would have woken up hung over from a binge. But yesterday, I didn’t do that. Even though I still mindlessly ate, I practiced three things that have totally improved my unhealthy patterns with food and, really, all of my unhealthy patterns:
1.) Forgive yourself
In the moment when I recognized that I had been mindlessly eating, that was a miracle. A miracle is simply a shift in perception from fear to love. So, the moment when I decided to stop mindlessly eating something I didn’t need and start doing what was more loving for myself, I shifted my perception and created a miracle. Then, I said to myself, “I choose to forgive myself for mindlessly eating.” and asked my friend to put them away.
2.) Play out the scene
After forgiving myself, I envisioned what it would look like if I kept eating. If I kept eating, I would feel out of control and would be more likely to binge when I got home and end up with a food hangover. I haven’t done that in so long and have no desire to go there. Whereas when I stop eating in the moment, I take control of the situation and feel discomfort – but it’s not nearly as painful as going on a 3-hour off-and-on binge.
3.) Remember who you are
We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. I do not view my body as a trash can. I view my body as a messenger of love and service. I can’t be overflowing  and clogging my body with trashy food.  I know that in order to show up and be of service to others, I need to first be of service to myself. If I neglect to serve myself, then I neglect others. And what good is that?
4.) It’s YOUR choice
In the end, it was my choice to mindlessly eat. Just own up to it. When we refuse to own up to our choices, it’s because we are refusing to accept our imperfections. I’m not perfect. I’m not a perfect eater and it’s okay! I made a wonky choice and then I did the best I could to fix it.
When we choose to accept that life happens FOR us and not TO us, our entire life begins to shift. We see our life as one big assignment instead of one big failure. We see opportunities instead of obstacles. And this is the key to a rich life. In my case, I saw this as an opportunity to recognize how far I’ve come in recovery to stop myself in the middle of a not-so-hot behavior, to shift my perception, and still move on with my night and have an awesome time with my girlfriends…to embrace all of the Love that was there in that moment.
That is a miracle.
What do you think? Are you in recovery or recovered? If so, how do you handle these situations? I’d love to know!

Personal Development Information That Can Help You Reach Your Goals

Figuring out how you should go about the personal development process can be puzzling. Personal development, like many fields, is highly individual. The development program that works for one person may be completely different from the one that works for another. To get the most out of your own self-improvement process, you should be searching constantly for good advice and new practices to make use of. You may find some helpful information in the tips below.

Many times, stress is the thing that robs people of happiness. When our mind is stressed, our body suffers. If we desire to work toward our goals calmly and methodically with a clear head, we have to eliminate the stress inside our heads. Set aside a period of time each day when you can be alone, clear your thoughts, and completely relax. Having this time every day can make you more peaceful and happy with yourself.

Seek out other like-minded individuals. Not only will this strengthen your resolve and reinforce positive attitudes in yourself, but it will also allow you a break from people who are toxic that badmouth your goals and dreams at every turn.

Always carry a way to write down thoughts you may have. Carry paper with you everywhere. Write your thoughts down when they occur, and then you can refer back to them later when the time is right.

By being a leader, you can help improve your personal development. Leadership can be defined in many ways, but most people like to define it as "influence." Understand the events in your life that make up your leadership journey. Think about the circumstances that have had the most influence in your life. How have these events transcended the life that you live? What personal qualities do you have that make you a good team player? By knowing yourself and your motives better, you can more easily integrate into a leadership role with others.

In order to get as much as you can out of your efforts with personal development, you need to take care of your body physically. You can keep your energy level up with regular exercise, a healthy diet, and getting a good night's sleep. This will give you the energy you need to be successful at your personal development efforts. Even though it sounds simple enough to do, it could also be one of the toughest things to get into.

One way to raise your self-esteem is to give other people compliments. If you treat other people with kindness, you will be more likely to treat yourself with kindness too.

You can try writing yourself a motivational speech. Make a list of all the good things about you, and put it on a postcard. Keep it handy, and when you need a little motivation, read it. You can also read it and record it on video, and watch it often. Why not?

Each person needs to improve in different life areas, so grab the most useful tips for your situation from this article. You must apply what you have learned to see success. If you have any friends that you think could benefit from this article, then share the knowledge from the article to help yourself and others grow and personally develop.

Are You Rewarding Yourself for Hard Work?

Over the past few months, things haven’t been the same with me.
Finding research data and writing the eBook has been eating up most of my time.
I have to apologize to all my blogging friends because I haven’t been able to visit and comment on their blogs as much as I wanted to.
Anyway, the topic in question is – Are you rewarding yourself for hard work? Do you think rewarding yourself for hard work is necessary?
Absolutely, in my opinion!
Anyway, here’s how I’ve been working hard lately.
Without revealing much details about my eBook, there is a lot of unique information in it and the approach I (and my co-author) make in the book are very very unique and surprising. I hope the book lives up to this little hype I’m creating and for the hard work we’re putting in.
Anyway, for the approach we’ve chosen, large amounts of information is necessary so as to make the eBook as lucid as possible. Also required are a large number of case studies, real life examples of breaking away from negativity.
The surveys really helped a lot. I got some really great cases of negativity and positivity. That actually allows me to attend to people’s problems on a more personal note. Nice!
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the survey and gave me such vital information.
On the other hand my co-author put in a really helpful hand. He brought in some really unique case studies of how people face negativity and their even more unique ways to tackle and break away from them. Hard work from him as well. A pat on the back!
So this, basically has been eating most of our time. I haven’t been able to write much on my blog either. It’s been almost a month since I’ve written a post here.

On the other hand, the new academic year has begun and I have been quite busy with it as well.
A lot of other tiny little things too have been eating up my time. It is not that I’m blaming these things but the sad fact is I totally haven’t been able to read my favorite blogs.
I’m totally clueless as to what you’d do had you been in my position but the fact remains that I have been putting in the hard work of late and the question here is – Am I rewarding myself for the hard work? Do you think I should?
I for one, certainly think that I should. So how exactly should I reward myself for hard work?
Playing the guitar… Well, it’s both hard work and fun as I’m still in the learning stages of it. Other than that, I’d like to take a big break from the things I’m into right now.
Me and my uncle are quite close and he has promised a great and exciting weekend for me this week. I have no clue whatsoever about what we’d be doing but one thing is for sure that we’ll have a lot of fun.
He’s a great guy to be with, knows exactly what I enjoy, we share similar tastes in movies, music and what not. I’m really looking forward to it and let’s hope that it turns out to be a great and fitting ‘reward’ for my ‘hard work’.
I know it’s gonna be great!
What about you? Are you rewarding yourself for hard work?
Well, you’ve heard my story. What about you? Are you working hard on something particular? How has it been going? Time for a break?

Getting Ahead In Life With Personal Development

It's a big step to admit that you have to work on your well being. Here is a collection of tips to get you started on the right track.

Stress can greatly interfere with your mood. Feeling stressed can influence your mood and your body. Letting go of stress can be the key to better thinking and meeting our goals with clear purpose and calm intent. Take some time off regularly to relax and reflect. This peaceful mental relaxation will refresh your mind, and improve your inner self.

Become a more well-rounded person by developing your leadership qualities. Leadership has many different definitions, but the common theme is influence. Identify the leadership qualities you possess. What events shaped your life and personality? How have those events changed you? What do you feel makes you a good team player? By considering these questions, you can determine how to fit into a team-related setting.

Humility is a key factor in personal development. If you admit that you are simply a tiny part of this world, you will begin to recognize how much you still have to learn. Once you absorb this fact, you will have a desire for further knowledge and understanding.

Write yourself a pep talk. Write a list of each of your good points and attributes on an index card. Keep it with you, and pull it out if you are feeling discouraged. Take it a step further and record yourself reading your list. Are you wondering why you should do this?

Aim to make each day better than its predecessor. Always work towards making improvements. Push yourself to do something better today than you did the day before.

If you are depressed, pay attention to your complex carb intake and boost it. A lack of complex carbohydrates can lead to a depletion of serotonin. Raw vegetables along with fresh fruits, whole grains and nuts are good sources of complex carbohydrates.

Head to a movie with your best friend if anxiety is a problem in your life. This activity will force you to be around others, but you do not have to talk to them very much, which will minimize your discomfort. It will also allow you to get used to being around lots of people.

Give your energy to the things that are most important in your life. By concentrating your emotional energy on the positive aspects of everyday life and shutting out the negative, you will be on the road to inner peace.

Avoid the temptation to comfort yourself with a shopping spree. If you find yourself shopping out of habit, take up a hobby to replace the time spent shopping. You can relieve stress, reduce credit card bills and enjoy your time much more.

Simplify your life by getting organized. If you are able to get your life organized and keep it that way, you will see a real boost to your self-confidence. This also helps relieve you from stress caused by disorganization. The knowledge that everything is located in its proper place is calming.

Give some tips a chance and if you notice any change in feelings or your thoughts make a note about it. Go ahead, relax, and take a break.

ORIGINS OF FACE PAINTING

For centuries, face painting has been used around the world for religious reasons, cultural reasons, hunting, and military.
It was used in different Native American tribes during rituals and they would use different colors they believed had special meaning. It has been used in Japan by geishas for over a hundred years. The original paint that geishas used to paint their faces white was lead-based. Once it was discovered that lead paint was harmful towards the skin, it was replaced with powder.

Face painting has also been used as camouflage amongst hunters and military.

They originally used whatever natural substances, such as mud, to blend into their environment. Now it is still common practice amongst hunters and the military to use it as a way to stay hidden during a hunt or in battle.
Theaters have used face painting throughout history as well. Many groups would get together paint their faces elaborately before performances. Opera houses were known for using to add to their costumes.
It became popular in the 1960s during the hippie movement. Women would paint flowers and peace signs on their cheeks during protests. It wasn’t until the 1980s that such form of body art became a fun activity for kids.
It has now become quite common at county fairs, large outdoor markets, theme parks, festivals, and other gatherings that attract children. In today’s culture it has been geared mainly towards children, but many teenagers and adults enjoy it for special events.
Face painting for children at events is done usually on the cheek or done to look like a mask. The artists can also do half face or full face painting as well. When doing full design on the face, the designs can take between 5-10 minutes depending on how intricate they are, while smaller standard designs will take 3-5 minutes on average. A simple design can be painted on a small child in less than a minute. Anyone can be a painter of face, all it takes is a little practice!
Most that are sold at toy and craft stores look like large crayons. They are usually grease based and drag on the skin. For easier use and safety reasons, it’s best to use good quality, professional water based paints. They can be found at theaters, dance, and other performing arts stores. They’re made to meet cosmetic guidelines for skin use and are often referred to as make up. Even with the professional quality paint, do not apply it to bruised or cut skin because of the risk of further damage.
Common designs for face painting for children are animals and cartoon character images. There are more creative and dramatic designs that are popular with all ages, especially for teens and young adults. This form of body art can also be used for any age for sporting events, which is very common, especially amongst the male fans.
After a face painting party when you want to remove it, use a dark cloth and a gentle cleanser. Using baby or kids’ shampoos work well to remove face paint because they are mostly “tear-free”. You’ll want to lather, wipe, rinse, and repeat. The designs will come off the skin with very little rubbing and gentle rinsing, so don’t scrub. Especially when washing it off of a child’s face, scrubbing can irritate their skin. Traces of face paint may occasionally remain after washing off the main part, but they can be easily removed by applying a moisturizing lotion and waiting for at least 30 minutes, and then just washing again.
Face painting will continue to be a fun activity for all ages and is great for any special event. Be sure to look for one at the next event you go to or become one yourself! It’s a great way to show your creativity.

Sound Strategies For Successful Self Realization And Personal Development

You can take charge of your life and feel empowered by the decision to improve yourself in an organized manner. Getting some good personal development advice can really help to motivate you and get you ready to work hard at the process. The following article will give you some great tips that you can immediately include in your daily life.

If you have extensive personal development goals, consider enlisting the help of a therapist. While self-help books can be effective, many cannot provide the benefits that come from personal, targeted interaction with a therapist. Simply talking can help motivate you to succeed. Books don't provide the give and take, back-and-forth communication, that a personal meeting with the therapist can.

Choose someone you admire to assist you with your goals and accountability in personal development. Every champion has a great coach; the advice of a knowledgeable mentor is priceless. People need to be ready and willing to help others. If people didn't have this, how would they do their very best? A great coach is behind every great champion.

Becoming healthier will help immensely during personal development. When you are feeling good, it is easier to feel better about yourself. You will feel stronger and have more control over your time and money since you won't have as many medical expenses. Make better choices, dedicate yourself to it.

Happiness is often lost to stress. You are harming yourself mentally and physically when there is too much stress in your life. You have to tackle the stress that's bothering you before you can meet your goals. Have some time every day when you can relax and meditate in solitude. This time of refreshing can improve your overall peace and self-image.

Still looking for a life mate? Think about searching online. These days, 40 percent of couples meet via the Internet. Your soul mate might be out there looking online for you too. There are pros and cons with both of them.

If you take proper care of your physical needs, you will get the maximum benefit from your personal development approach. You can keep your energy level up with regular exercise, a healthy diet, and getting a good night's sleep. This will give you the energy you need to be successful at your personal development efforts. Even though it sounds simple enough to do, it could also be one of the toughest things to get into.

Work to control your anger by counting to ten before speaking. Take a deep breath and think of a peaceful place. Make your best effort to stay calm and say only what you need to.

Find books that inspire you. Such texts might include religious scripture, inspirational books, poetry and other forms of writing. It is a good idea to turn to something tangible when you are in need of a little push to keep going through the challenges that life has to offer.

No matter what tips you use from this article, they will all help you on your personal development journey. With hard work and persistence, your personal development goals can be reached.

Inspirational Quote Tattoos

Quote tattoos also known as word tattoos range from simplistic fonts to very elaborate cursive fonts. The quotes that people get can come from the Bible, famous quotes or song lyrics. No matter where they come from, tattoo quotes usually hold a special meaning to the person wearing them. By reading the quote, you can tell a lot about that person’s feelings, beliefs or sense of humor.
It wasn’t until recently that quote tattoos become popular. Tattoos used to be just artwork with occasional words, but now you can find quotes without any pictures to go along with them. Some people do however, put a little symbol next to the words that go along with the quote. Quote tattoos are usually done in black ink but sometimes color is added to the words for added effect. If you are searching for a quote tattoo, make sure it is something you would gladly carry throughout life.
