Improve Your Life By Improving Yourself

The path to personal development has many obstacles and you may feel that you have no idea where to start. Once you begin to look around, you will discover that there is a wealth of information to sort through to find what you need. If you are looking for some simple but effective tips, take a look at the article below.

One way to accelerate your personal development progress is to keep a journal devoted to the subject. This need not be a lengthy, soul-searching document. Even simply jotting down the goals you set will help you keep them in mind. Adding more information about the steps you are taking towards those goals will make your efforts more organized.

Keep yourself around positive people. Being around people that are positive can be contagious and will change you way of thinking. It is a bad idea for someone that is depressed to be around those who think negative. It can worsen their depression and cause more negative thinking, which is exactly what you don't want to do.

Working on personal development does not mean that you need to better yourself constantly but that you are always working on some aspect of yourself. You can try to fit this into your free time by using your time efficiently, such as practicing a language while stuck in traffic with a book on tape.

Value what is important to you. We have been raised to make compromises, but why should you conform if it makes you unhappy? Break your old habits and follow what really matters to you. If something is really dear to you, organize your lifestyle around it and make compromises in favor of what matters to you.

On your path to personal development, remember that your whole self is made of many parts. For example, if you have any chronic health conditions, remember that these can absolutely affect your mindset and perspective. If you take care of your body, your body will reward you with positivity.

For a fresh perspective, try on another ideology for size. A Buddhist way of thinking often entails disposing of your ego and seeing the world as one thriving organism. In this sense, your impact on the world goes as far as your positive energy can take you. Try a new perspective to enhance your other personal development efforts. You might be surprised at how well it works!

Being too hard on yourself is a sure fire way of going through life the hard way. We are all human, and just as overcorrecting a child will cause them to withdraw or focus on the fear of failure, being hard on yourself will discourage you! You need to encourage yourself in as many ways as possible to keep you on a positive and productive path.

All it takes to begin being a better person and enjoy the life you deserve, is for you to take the first step. You still have many things to learn, but apply the information in the tips above and you will be on your way. Overcome the obstacles that stand in your way and be the best you can be.

Great Personal Development Information That Can Benefit You

If you are trying to grow as a person, you need to learn as much as you can and then apply it to your life. The easiest way to succeed with personal growth is by learning techniques and applying them in your life whenever you can.

Try and surround yourself with people who think like you do. This helps strengthen your resolve, reinforces positive thinking and keeps you away from toxic people that harm your dreams and goals.

Determine what obstacles are blocking your path to success. This can prove problematic for most folks. However, if you can figure out what your weakness is, it's the first step needed to change it. If you are able to overcome some hurdles, you might get a clearer picture of what your future holds.

Try to get the most out of your work time to get more accomplished. This can be achieved by taking frequent breaks from work. If you designate a time to relax, then you will be more willing to buckle down and focus during work periods.

Regular exercise is necessary to your personal development. Put yourself on the road to success with personal development by making sure your basic need are met, including adequate amounts of sleep, nutritious food and a regular fitness regimen. This may sound simple on paper, but it is actually quite hard.

You cannot provide care for others unless you care for yourself. It doesn't matter where you are in life; you need to take the time for rest and relaxation.

Therapy is the answer for many with serious problems. An in-the-flesh therapist can provide much more insight than a clinical self-help book can. There are many times when talking with another person about a stressful situation is the most effective route to relaxation. A psychiatrist can have a discussion with you, where a book cannot.

Focus on finding ways to handle difficult situations without letting your emotions get the best of you. Once you learn how to remain calm in the midst of stress, you'll have the confidence needed to cope with anything that happens in your life. Take time to slow down and breathe deeply.

Do not go shopping for comfort. If you devote all your time and money to the pursuit of shopping as a hobby, you are almost certain to end up broke amid a heap of credit card statements. Find a more engaging activity, and save yourself the stress and debt.

One important aspect of personal development is making the choice to lead a healthier life. Good health makes anyone feel happier. When your health is good you think wisely and make good decisions. You also save money on medical expenses. One of your most important personal development goals should be to start living a healthier life.

When working on personal development strive to achieve a high level of self discipline. Gain mental control over your physical cravings. Control your body's physical desires, like lust, greed, overeating and drunkenness. By implementing self control and restraint you will be able to prevent harmful vices from having a negative effect on your mind and body.

Applying these tips should help you find the next step in your journey. Also, always keep your eyes open for new information. This can further your growth, making you a better individual.

Great Self Help Advice That You Should Follow

Do you want to improve your life? This article has some effective tips to help you improve yourself.

Find people you can relate to. This will help to boost your self-esteem as well as give you a bit of a break from the kind of people that spend their time badmouthing your dreams and goals every chance that they get.

Try perusing some books on personal development. A good book can help you find new ways to reach for your goals and improve yourself. Try to pick a volume that has already been well-received by others because poorly done books in this category are fairly common.

Pinpoint exactly what is blocking your progress. This has proven to be an obstacle for a large number of people. However, if you can figure out what your weakness is, it's the first step needed to change it. When you take each area and take action to improve it, the path to a better future is much smoother.

Let your personal principles guide your personal development. Most people have a system of beliefs and principles they subscribe to. Having a good foundation based on your core principles will benefit your sense of self esteem. It also demonstrates to other people an admirable consistency. This is a trait that others will find attractive.

Base your development plan on your values and goals. Working against these values will lead to frustration and failure. So instead, you should spend your efforts on things in your life that match up with your values. Consider each change a permanent improvement to your lifestyle.

Start giving other people compliments. Resist the urge to focus on the negative and instead speak out in kindness to others and you will find yourself being kinder to yourself, as well.

Instead of bragging about your accomplishments, ask those around you about what they are most proud of and what they've achieved. Placing your focus on others will help you recognize the potential of those around you.

Treat all people with respect and kindness. The way you deal with people speaks volumes about your character.

In order to help with depression, try to add extra complex carbohydrates to your diet. Serotonin can lower if you don't eat enough carbs. Add complex carbohydrates to your diet through increased consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, brown rice and whole grains.

If you notice that you are consistently failing to meet your goals and live up to expectations, you should attempt to diagnose the probable causes. Find out some ideas online and look to others who have similar expectations. You might be trying to do too much at once, have the steps in the wrong order, or only taking half-measures when allocating resources.

Focus on learning how to stay calm in difficult circumstances, rather than becoming irrational and emotional. If you know how to keep a cool head during stressful times, then you will likely be able to handle most problems life sends your way. Learning to breathe deeply upon command can give you back your sense of control.

It shouldn't be scary to make big changes in your life. The really important thing is to keep your mind focused on the great benefits to your well-being and satisfaction that a rigorous program of self-improvement will provide.

Do I have to fail first?

Do I have to fail before I can succeed?
48 Days Podcast listener Josh Bulloc asks:  I have studied many entrepreneurs and successful people and most of them have gone through some sort of life trial which I correlate to becoming successful. I am concerned that I am not going to do well because I have not gone through that learning experience (yet). Your thoughts please.
We hear a lot about the failures of people who are ultimately very successful.  I’ve certainly talked openly about my personal business flops on my way to where I am today.  Many of you are familiar with Dave Ramsey and his big crash in real estate that set the stage for him to help others avoid those same mistakes and in the process recapture and surpass his former wealth.
So should we be helping people avoid mistakes?  Are we preventing those people from experiencing their ultimate success?   Are we prolonging the inevitable?  Will their safe path now confine them to mediocrity rather than astounding success?
How do you view failure in your own life?  Do you avoid it at all costs?
One of the most important lessons I ever learned regarding failure was in an illustration from Robert Schuller that I heard many years ago.  He said to think about an athlete jumping a high bar.  As long as that athlete clears the bar we really don’t how good he/she is.  It is only when the bar is tripped (failure) that we have an accurate measurement of how good that athlete really is.
I want to know how high I can go.  So that opens the door wide open for potential risks and failure.  But if I fail I simply have a measurement of what I am capable of.  As long as I am always successful I fear I may have set the bar far too low. I would be mortified if I achieved every goal I set for this year.  Because I would wonder what I missed by not stretching more.  Failure lets me know I’m pushing the limits of what is possible for me.
And that seems to be the major difference between high achieving people and average people – their response to failure.
Josh, I would never suggest that you create your own failure – just to get it over with.  Trust me; if you are doing anything extraordinary, failure will find you.  But then don’t bury your head in the sand.  How we fail is at least as important as how we succeed.
I say push yourself; fail often.  Push yourself to the limits of your talents, abilities, dreams, endurance and common sense.  And then go one step further.  Your failures will release your creativity and innovation more than education and careful planning can ever do.
Are you failing enough to reach extraordinary success?

5 Positive Emotional Benefits of Otoplasty to Teenagers

Otoplasty or the ear correction surgery aims to correct deformities of the external ears. Some ears are most often sticking out and far too large for one’s head.
15-30% of students are being bullied and 60% of those who are bullied are being teased due to their appearances and how they look. Though bullying may happen in workplace as well as adult communities, bullying is primarily present and widespread in high school and among teens.
Physical bullying is common in elementary school but verbal abuses may thrive in high school. In Australia, one in every four students is affected by bullying. Kids who are bullied are three times more likely to show depressive symptoms, says the Centre for Adolescent Health.
Nces.ed.gov pointed out that bullying victim may display the following range of responses:
  • Low self esteem. They don’t feel confident anymore and is becoming a social outcast.
  • Difficulty in trusting others. They don’t like the idea of giving full trust even to friends because they might just be the same as your bullies.
  • Lack of assertiveness. They become a shadow of inaction and just let bygones be bygones. Due to this they may underperform in school and will do worse after some time.
  • Aggression. So it’s either the total isolation or aggression.
  • Difficulty controlling anger. This anger that should have been attributed to their bullies is sometimes directed to other people such as their parents, siblings or friends.
  • Isolation. They don’t want to be with people nor socialize for the time being.
But this is the worst case scenario already. It can be remedied, that is if bullying streams from physical reasons.

Why Ears, Nose and Skin Color are Subjects of Bullies

It is because they are the first thing they can see. Physical appearance constitutes the larger part of bullies’ reasons.
In the process, parents should develop awareness of these issues. Early intervention will help save a teen in the process.

Cosmetic Procedure to Correct Physical Deformities

Sometimes parents should be vigilant with this kind of issues. A movement in the US had parents’ subject teens to cosmetic procedure to correct and enhance congenital problems and injury related
deformities in the face and the body of teenagers that are often subjects of the bullying.
There is a positive response to it. Though it should be coupled with other means such as added parental support as well as therapies if it became severe already.

Otoplasty as A Way to Address Ear Problems

Otoplasty or the ear correction surgery aims to correct deformities of the external ears. Some ears are most often sticking out and far too large for one’s head.
As we opened this article, otoplasty is the procedure of correcting the external part of the ears. Whether we admit it or not, too prominent ears or ears that sticks out of the head than necessary is really attention catching. This kind of ears sometimes doesn’t compliment the face and may further result to drastic situations such as bullying which is discussed above.
Often, these kinds of ears are labeled as “mousy” or “ratty” referring to the mouse’s and rat’s ear counterparts.
For adults, it may get to the nerve, for teens and kids; it will feel like the end of the world. Teenage years are the defining moment of one’s life, starting it at the wrong footing may prove disastrous.
Otoplasty if decided by parents may yield the following benefits:
  1. Improved self esteem. Once they don’t feel odd, they may try to accept self again. Self esteem will improve and a new and better self image is discovered.
  2. Better performance in school. This may stem out from the idea that he or she isn’t an outcast anymore.
  3. Slowly the social structure they left behind after the bullying will be rebuilt and they may start to socialize again.
  4. Improved appearance means improved confidence.
  5. School outlook may improve. Attendance may improve as well.
  6. The hiding props such as hat, long hair and serves will be finally discarded.
  7. They will be leading a newer life that wouldn’t have been possible with bullying.
This and many more might just convince you why bullying through appearances should be stopped in the society. Self acceptance may also prove a pivotal role after the procedure. Debates over the morality of this topic are also available in the internet. So read more and keep yourself updated. Your kid might be one of the bullying victims. Take the necessary step now.

How to Neutralize Stress and Create Inner Wellness

“Each patient carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us now knowing this truth. We are at our best when they give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to go to work.” ~Albert Schweitzer
We live a world fraught with stress.
Our fast-paced, technological culture bombards us with sights and sounds that keep us geared up and speeding through life, spending too much time with our bodies in stress mode.
When we experience stress, whether a threat is real or perceived, our body responds by going into defense mode to protect us. In this state our bodies make, among other things, adrenaline and cortisol.
These hormones are healthy in small amounts but too much leads to a break down in our health and mood. Imagine revving the gas pedal of a car over and over and over again all day long. Our body has a similar accelerating response, and can wear us down if we don’t neutralize it.
We can learn to neutralize stress by using our bodies metaphorical “brake pedal”. Our brake pedal is used when we slow down, and spend time in calm, caring, and connected modes. When we slow down and connect with others, our bodies create what is called oxytocin, which helps us heal, build relationships, and relax.
With this in mind, here are a few ways to stay out of stress mode, put on the break, and improve inner wellness.

Experience silence, stillness, and solitude

For many people silence and stillness is a rare commodity. They live in a noisy city or have a high intensity schedule that keeps them on the go. If you relate to this type of lifestyle it’s important to create a healthy rhythm for your life.
To counter the ongoing noxious stimulation, find ways to nurture your five senses with healing sights, sounds, smells, tastes and physical sensations.
Spend time in nature and other calming environments. Use incessant and other therapeutic scents. Get a massage. Set aside at least fifteen minutes each day where you are free to relax quietly without any distractions.

Smiling

The way we express ourselves through facial expressions affects our sense of self and overall emotional state. When we frown or have negative expressions it creates an inner stress. The biology of smiling is for our own well-being.
The saying “fake it till you make” is an example of how altering our demeanor and expressions alters our state of mind. Practice smiling a few more times each day. Take a deep breath, relax your facial muscles, and put a smile on your face.

Physical touch

A good oxytocin builder is physical touch. Some research says we need seven to eight hugs per day for the right amount of oxytocin. Human contact puts us in a positive state and is a natural source of feel good chemicals.
Unfortunately many of us are so busy and on the go we forget about the comfort of human contact. Find safe people to hug and connect with. Whether it is a spouse, child, family members, close friends, or other people you trust, start incorporating physical touch into your life. Nothing creepy of course, just pats on the back, hugs, or a shake of the hand.

Live in a sea of forgiveness

We have all struggled at one time or another with letting-go of our proverbial baggage. That is why forgiveness is so valuable. It promotes healing by ridding us of the emotional baggage that can weigh us down.
Forgiveness helps us approach situations with empathy, insight, and understanding. We can focus less on the negative and prepare ourselves to respond instead of react as we go through our day, which helps maintain inner wellness.

Activate your right brain

A great way to work through stress is to find a creative outlet. Using music, painting, writing, and other artistic outlets can help us to break free from a negative narrow state of mind. This can also help us problem solve and expand our perspective. Find ways to express and process your emotions.
Hopefully these ideas helped you learn about how our body responds to stress, and how our body also produces chemicals that can promote wellness.
Some of these skills may seem very simple, but they can help you take care of yourself both emotionally and physically. Figure out what tips will work best for you and make the choice today to create inner wellness.

Are You Rewarding Yourself for Hard Work?

Over the past few months, things haven’t been the same with me.
Finding research data and writing the eBook has been eating up most of my time.
I have to apologize to all my blogging friends because I haven’t been able to visit and comment on their blogs as much as I wanted to.
Anyway, the topic in question is – Are you rewarding yourself for hard work? Do you think rewarding yourself for hard work is necessary?
Absolutely, in my opinion!
Anyway, here’s how I’ve been working hard lately.
Without revealing much details about my eBook, there is a lot of unique information in it and the approach I (and my co-author) make in the book are very very unique and surprising. I hope the book lives up to this little hype I’m creating and for the hard work we’re putting in.
Anyway, for the approach we’ve chosen, large amounts of information is necessary so as to make the eBook as lucid as possible. Also required are a large number of case studies, real life examples of breaking away from negativity.
The surveys really helped a lot. I got some really great cases of negativity and positivity. That actually allows me to attend to people’s problems on a more personal note. Nice!
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the survey and gave me such vital information.
On the other hand my co-author put in a really helpful hand. He brought in some really unique case studies of how people face negativity and their even more unique ways to tackle and break away from them. Hard work from him as well. A pat on the back!
So this, basically has been eating most of our time. I haven’t been able to write much on my blog either. It’s been almost a month since I’ve written a post here.

On the other hand, the new academic year has begun and I have been quite busy with it as well.
A lot of other tiny little things too have been eating up my time. It is not that I’m blaming these things but the sad fact is I totally haven’t been able to read my favorite blogs.
I’m totally clueless as to what you’d do had you been in my position but the fact remains that I have been putting in the hard work of late and the question here is – Am I rewarding myself for the hard work? Do you think I should?
I for one, certainly think that I should. So how exactly should I reward myself for hard work?
Playing the guitar… Well, it’s both hard work and fun as I’m still in the learning stages of it. Other than that, I’d like to take a big break from the things I’m into right now.
Me and my uncle are quite close and he has promised a great and exciting weekend for me this week. I have no clue whatsoever about what we’d be doing but one thing is for sure that we’ll have a lot of fun.
He’s a great guy to be with, knows exactly what I enjoy, we share similar tastes in movies, music and what not. I’m really looking forward to it and let’s hope that it turns out to be a great and fitting ‘reward’ for my ‘hard work’.
I know it’s gonna be great!
What about you? Are you rewarding yourself for hard work?
Well, you’ve heard my story. What about you? Are you working hard on something particular? How has it been going? Time for a break?

Is It Important To Be On Top?

Image courtesy of: “Chuck Felix” / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Are you someone who doesn’t let life happen to you, but are one who makes life happen for you?

Overview of Article about Being ‘On Top
A wonderful man, Jon, recently came into my life, and he planned a trip to St. Louis, MO.  It was our first vacation together so it was an important experience in sharing and trust.  There was a discuss we had    about some scenery, which Jon made an interesting observation and gave rise to conversation for us.

I’m Trippin’
The first day was spend seeing some of the sights of the city, getting my nails done (had to do something while he had business to take care of) and just enjoying being together. I’m going to talk about something Jon and I just discussed.
The next day we got up early  and traveled on Amtrak from St. Louis to Kansas City, MO.  It is my first Amtrak ride, I loved it!  It’s so nice knowing there are still special experiences and new ways to live life to the fullest
The ride was smooth with just a little rocking motion, which helped me relax (and Jon  sleep).  The scenery was great, which brings me to the point of this post.  We passed by a small town, which had a wooded hillside in the background overlooking the community below.
I said to Jon, “Look how pretty it looks with the houses dotting the landscape above the town.”
Jon said, “It’s always important for people to be on top?”
This caused me to pause for a moment since it was such a thought-provoking statement and meant more than the obvious.

What Does It Mean to be On Top?

  • My First Thoughts.

  1. “On Top’ of what?”
  2. “Is it really important to be on top?”
  3. “Why is important?”
  4. “What does this mean to me/you?”

Being On Top and What It Really Means
First question made me think how often the powerful and wealthy are often thought of being more important and a bit above others.  Of course, this isn’t said out loud, but one can detected an air of endowment with some of the rich.  I have met people who the world or society is not even aware of, yet they have influenced me and others in such a way that we are forever changed.
I’m reminded of a woman I knew when I was 16-18, who was about the age I am now (greater than 55 and happy with myself, which is a wonderful place to be).  She was  supportive, caring and helped me come to terms with my abusive father.  She and her husband helped me to take the first step towards freedom from my secluded prison known to others as my ‘home’.
Leaving everything and everyone I knew and cared about was scary, shocking and disturbing for me.  I’m sure it probably was for her and her husband as well, because they took me into their home for a night and stayed up to keep watch and making sure my father did not try to do me any harm.
She also contacted my older sister, and I was able to talk with her and get some much-needed support.  My sister and her husband paid for me to get to St. Louis where they lived, they provided for me until I could take some classes toward finding employment.
In my opinion, she is one of the most successful, loving and important people in the world.  ‘Did she gain great wealth or power?’  Probably not.  Did she make a great difference in the world so that everyone knows her name.  Again, probably not.  Is she important and ‘on top’ in my book?  Absolutely!

Image courtesy of: “federico stevanin”  / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Why is being ‘on top’ important to you/me?
Every person, at some point in their life, will decide what is important to them.  If a person fails to make a conscious decision, they have, in fact, decided.  Are you ‘on top?’  If so, how would you describe what this means?  If not, what do you think of this topic?
I decided many years ago what was important to me, and what I felt success (being ‘on top’) meant.

Steps I Took to Create Success for Myself

  1. It is important to teach my children they are loved; they are loveable and they can accomplish anything if they want it badly enough and are willing to work for it.
  2. It is important to be positive and turn around the negative things that have happened, and will happen, to me into something positive.
  3. It is important that I am able to influence others to stretch farther than the average person and create a  life of love, joy, peace and balance.

How To See Yourself The Right Way

If you do not know how to grow personally, you have come to the right place! Keeping an open mind and using the tips that this article will provide you will help you reach any personal development goals you may have.

Happiness is often lost to stress. When we are feeling stressed, our minds aren't just affected. Our entire bodies are too. Eliminating stress is essential for thinking clearly and achieving goals. Schedule in relaxation times throughout the day, clearing your mind in a peaceful setting. This peaceful mental relaxation will refresh your mind, and improve your inner self.

You will miss many opportunities to develop personally if you put off making decisions. Even if your knowledge is not what it could be, have the courage to make choices. Use your common sense and knowledge when making important decisions. Even mistaken decisions are valuable because they provide instructive learning experiences. Wrong choices ensure that new choices will be better ones.

Find personal development books that are appropriate for your age and situation. These types of reading materials can often provide new insights and give you methods to alter your behavior in lifelong positive ways. Look for a book that is backed by very positive and very credible reviews because certain personal development books are written terribly.

Keep a journal with you so whenever ideas hit, you can record them. Try carrying paper with you wherever you go. Just write down what their idea or thought is and then develop it more when you have the time and are feeling creative.

One way to make progress in your life is be humble. Understand that you are one part of the bigger picture. You need to know that in the grand scheme of things, your problems are very insignificant. By instilling these ideas in your brain, you will be more open to improving yourself and learning new information.

Make each day a better one than the last. You should always try to improve yourself. If you did something pretty well yesterday, tell yourself that wasn't enough. You need to do it really well today.

Instead of talking about your accomplishments, ask some other people about some of the things they have accomplished and what they are most proud of. This is a wonderful means of learning more about your peers and their abilities; you also might discover a new role model.

If you have extensive personal development goals, consider enlisting the help of a therapist. Though self-help books and online resources are great, they typically will not offer as much as a one-on-one therapy session can. For some people, they have much more success when they can talk openly about their problems. Books can't interact with people the way a trained psychiatrist is able to.

Now that you have a few ideas on how to improve yourself, you should be more confident about starting a personal development program. Never stop seeking ways to develop yourself as a person. Use that knowledge to become the person you seek to be.

Tips To Being A Happier And Healthier Person

Do you want to live a more fulfilling life? Here are some tips to get you started on a journey of personal growth and development.

Get together with others that share your point of view. This will create a reinforcing environment for meeting your goals and also help you avoid people who will bring you down with constant criticism.

Try perusing some books on personal development. Personal development books that are well written, insightful and instructive can provide you with the information you need to significantly enhance your outlook and your life. Pay attention to reviews when you pick a self-help book. The genre has some poorly-written books in it; however, you want one that has proven useful to other readers.

Know the obstacles you face before you hit them. This is a difficult task for many people. You might not be able to find your weakness, but you can find the way to change them. If you can successfully remove a few obstacles, you might just see a clearer path to your future.

Stay in top physical condition to maximize your personal development success. Achieving your personal development goals is more likely if you keep your energy levels high by getting a sufficient amount of sleep, exercising on a regular basis, and maintaining a nutritious diet. It might seem easy, but it can prove to be very difficult.

Go out of your way to give other people compliments. It is actually better to turn the other cheek and be nice to others.

Remember to treat people with respect regardless of how much power they have, or what they can do for you. How you treat them reveals more about your own character, than it reveals about theirs.

Whatever you need, and whatever you decide to do about it, you must at least do one thing. You need to make the choice to stay active in life, and not sit on the sidelines. Standing back idly will serve you no purpose, so get involved in your own destiny today!

If you are falling sort and not meeting goals, step back and look at your issues. Take a little time to research what others have done when their goals were similar. You might be able to mimic some of their ideas or learn from their successes. It's possible your goals are too lofty, you're missing a step along the way, or you're just not putting the resources necessary into meeting your goal.

Do not go shopping for comfort. If you practice something you like instead of shopping, you will not spend a lot of money and get into debt.

Try to get more organized. Bringing structure to your life will give you a great sense of accomplishment, and living a more organized life will boost your confidence. Better yet, you will no longer worry about finding necessary things or dealing with the stress that comes with living in a cluttered environment. When everything is in a proper place, life is a bit more calm.

Before you started reading this article you may have been too frightened to try and better yourself, but hopefully this has put your mind at ease. Personal development can bring you happiness and well-being, all through simply taking initiative for your own life.

Personal Development Can Lead To The Life You Want

Personal development is about finding out who you are and putting the real you in charge of your life. The most obvious way to improve yourself is to know common personal development strategies and apply them to your own life.

Reading books on the subject of personal development or self-improvement is good for you. A good personal development book can give you great advice and ideas that can change your life. It is important, however, that you choose a book that has received good reviews. There is no policing on the writers of personal development books, and some of them are sorely lacking in credibility.

Be prepared to write down ideas as they come to you, no matter where that may happen. Paper is an old fashioned way to record notes, but it never runs out of battery power. Just write down what their idea or thought is and then develop it more when you have the time and are feeling creative.

To get the biggest benefits from personal development, make sure to physically take care of your body. Not getting enough sleep, getting a lot of exercise, and eating well can help you stay on top of your game, and help you win at personal development. This may seem like a simple task, but for some it is the most difficult.

Unless you are self-sufficient, you cannot expect to be able to care for another person. No matter how much progress you have made in your personal development, always make resting and restoring yourself a top priority.

Many people are unaware that diet can affect feelings of depression, as an increase in consumption of complex carbohydrates can help. Complex carbohydrates are essential to producing serotonin, which helps to lift your mood. Eat more fresh fruit, raw vegetables, whole grains, beans, brown rice and nuts to improve your complex carbohydrate intake.

Focus on finding ways to handle difficult situations without letting your emotions get the best of you. If you know how to keep a cool head during stressful times, then you will likely be able to handle most problems life sends your way. Take a few seconds to focus on your breathing.

Determine which aspects of your life you truly value, and concentrate solely on those. You will surely find inner peace by focusing your thoughts on things that are important as opposed to those that don't matter at all.

If you shop for comfort, remember you are only creating more stress in the end. Instead of shopping, spending money and adding more charges to your credit card bill, keep busy with a hobby. Not only will you have fewer debts to deal with, but your house will be less cluttered with stuff that you do not really need.

Organize your life. Getting organized is an accomplishment, and continually staying organized boosts your confidence. The stress caused by disorganization will also be relieved. When everything is organized, there tends to be a calm feeling.

If you use these tips in this article, you can begin your journey to personal development. Always keep your eyes peeled for new ideas that will help you grow into a better person who is more productive and relaxed.

How to Discover Your Life Purpose in About 20 Minutes

How do you discover your real purpose in life? I’m not talking about your job, your daily responsibilities, or even your long-term goals. I mean the real reason why you’re here at all — the very reason you exist.

Perhaps you’re a rather nihilistic person who doesn’t believe you have a purpose and that life has no meaning. Doesn’t matter. Not believing that you have a purpose won’t prevent you from discovering it, just as a lack of belief in gravity won’t prevent you from tripping. All that a lack of belief will do is make it take longer, so if you’re one of those people, just change the number 20 in the title of this blog entry to 40 (or 60 if you’re really stubborn). Most likely though if you don’t believe you have a purpose, then you probably won’t believe what I’m saying anyway, but even so, what’s the risk of investing an hour just in case?

Here’s a story about Bruce Lee which sets the stage for this little exercise. A master martial artist asked Bruce to teach him everything Bruce knew about martial arts. Bruce held up two cups, both filled with liquid. “The first cup,” said Bruce, “represents all of your knowledge about martial arts. The second cup represents all of my knowledge about martial arts. If you want to fill your cup with my knowledge, you must first empty your cup of your knowledge.”

If you want to discover your true purpose in life, you must first empty your mind of all the false purposes you’ve been taught (including the idea that you may have no purpose at all).
So how to discover your purpose in life? While there are many ways to do this, some of them fairly involved, here is one of the simplest that anyone can do. The more open you are to this process, and the more you expect it to work, the faster it will work for you. But not being open to it or having doubts about it or thinking it’s an entirely idiotic and meaningless waste of time won’t prevent it from working as long as you stick with it — again, it will just take longer to converge.
Here’s what to do:
  1. Take out a blank sheet of paper or open up a word processor where you can type (I prefer the latter because it’s faster).
  2. Write at the top, “What is my true purpose in life?”
  3. Write an answer (any answer) that pops into your head. It doesn’t have to be a complete sentence. A short phrase is fine.
  4. Repeat step 3 until you write the answer that makes you cry. This is your purpose.
That’s it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a counselor or an engineer or a bodybuilder. To some people this exercise will make perfect sense. To others it will seem utterly stupid. Usually it takes 15-20 minutes to clear your head of all the clutter and the social conditioning about what you think your purpose in life is. The false answers will come from your mind and your memories. But when the true answer finally arrives, it will feel like it’s coming to you from a different source entirely.

For those who are very entrenched in low-awareness living, it will take a lot longer to get all the false answers out, possibly more than an hour. But if you persist, after 100 or 200 or maybe even 500 answers, you’ll be struck by the answer that causes you to surge with emotion, the answer that breaks you. If you’ve never done this, it may very well sound silly to you. So let it seem silly, and do it anyway.

As you go through this process, some of your answers will be very similar. You may even re-list previous answers. Then you might head off on a new tangent and generate 10-20 more answers along some other theme. And that’s fine. You can list whatever answer pops into your head as long as you just keep writing.

At some point during the process (typically after about 50-100 answers), you may want to quit and just can’t see it converging. You may feel the urge to get up and make an excuse to do something else. That’s normal. Push past this resistance, and just keep writing. The feeling of resistance will eventually pass.

You may also discover a few answers that seem to give you a mini-surge of emotion, but they don’t quite make you cry — they’re just a bit off. Highlight those answers as you go along, so you can come back to them to generate new permutations. Each reflects a piece of your purpose, but individually they aren’t complete. When you start getting these kinds of answers, it just means you’re getting warm. Keep going.

It’s important to do this alone and with no interruptions. If you’re a nihilist, then feel free to start with the answer, “I don’t have a purpose,” or “Life is meaningless,” and take it from there. If you keep at it, you’ll still eventually converge.

When I did this exercise, it took me about 25 minutes, and I reached my final answer at step 106. Partial pieces of the answer (mini-surges) appeared at steps 17, 39, and 53, and then the bulk of it fell into place and was refined through steps 100-106. I felt the feeling of resistance (wanting to get up and do something else, expecting the process to fail, feeling very impatient and even irritated) around steps 55-60. At step 80 I took a 2-minute break to close my eyes, relax, clear my mind, and to focus on the intention for the answer to come to me — this was helpful as the answers I received after this break began to have greater clarity.

Here was my final answer: to live consciously and courageously, to resonate with love and compassion, to awaken the great spirits within others, and to leave this world in peace.
When you find your own unique answer to the question of why you’re here, you will feel it resonate with you deeply. The words will seem to have a special energy to you, and you will feel that energy whenever you read them.

Discovering your purpose is the easy part. The hard part is keeping it with you on a daily basis and working on yourself to the point where you become that purpose.

If you’re inclined to ask why this little process works, just put that question aside until after you’ve successfully completed it. Once you’ve done that, you’ll probably have your own answer to why it works. Most likely if you ask 10 different people why this works (people who’ve successfully completed it), you’ll get 10 different answers, all filtered through their individual belief systems, and each will contain its own reflection of truth.

Obviously, this process won’t work if you quit before convergence. I’d guesstimate that 80-90% of people should achieve convergence in less than an hour. If you’re really entrenched in your beliefs and resistant to the process, maybe it will take you 5 sessions and 3 hours, but I suspect that such people will simply quit early (like within the first 15 minutes) or won’t even attempt it at all. But if you’re drawn to read this blog (and haven’t been inclined to ban it from your life yet), then it’s doubtful you fall into this group.
