Personal Development Courses Target More Than You’d Think

When you think about personal development courses, you may think they are pretty cut and dry. You might think you already know everything a personal development coach would have to share with you. But, you are probably wrong!

Today’s personal development courses cover much more than just how to feel good about yourself. Sure, having a high self-esteem can be extremely useful in life and in business, but today’s courses go much further into detail. The details you can pick up from these courses are invaluable.

The truth is that when it comes to the subject of personal development, there are many forms. In each person, there are hundreds of things that could be worked on to develop them more. Various people have different needs in life and in business. Some people feel confident about public speaking, but don’t feel confident about their motivation levels. Others may hate speaking in front of people, but can motivate greatly in smaller groups. There are personal development courses for everyone.

Take a look at some of the topics covered by many personal development courses:

1) Interview Anxiety: If you are trying to get a new job, a loan, or even a promotion, this could help you feel comfortable in delivering yourself in an interview.

2) Public Speaking: Programs that focus on this aspect will help you learn to relax and enjoy your experiences with public speaking.

3) Concentration: When you are focused, and able to retain your focus, great things can happen. These programs will help you learn to tune all outside noise out and keep your eye on your task and goal.

4) Creativity Help: The programs that include training in this will help you learn what you specifically need to boost your own personal creativity levels. Tips and tools will be shared that you can use in everyday life.

5) Self-Belief: If you don’t have faith in yourself, no one else will have faith in you either. This will help you realistically see and utilize your abilities.

6) Problem Solving: One of the most important aspects of business is learning to effectively problem solve. Using the skills you already naturally possess, you can learn to be a great problem solver.

7) Decision Making: Being indecisive can be a major flaw in life and in business. This teaches you how to make a decision without needing loads of time or energy.

Various personal development courses target different needs, therefore finding one that suits you may take some searching. However, they are all quite valuable in life and in business. Any personal development course you choose to take will offer you information you can take and use immediately in your relationships with others. The lessons learned can pertain to both personal situations and business situations. They can help you become more successful and happier than you’d ever thought possible.

7 Ways To Become A Positive Person

As is often the case on the Internet, you can find the best ways to offer service to your visitors by simply going through the list of keywords that people have used to find your site, and that is the case here today.
Recently someone found the Today is that Day website (specifically this post) by searching MSN for the phrase “what will make me positive”.
Well, the short answer to that question is that no person or set of circumstances can make someone else positive. Positivity is something that comes from the inside, and it is up to us as individuals to decide the level of influence that outside factors will have on our own attitude.
However, there are certain things that you can do which will keep you on the right track, so to our new visitor (and everyone else), here is a list of 7 ways to become a positive person. Enjoy!

1)  Mind your feelings, Luke!

One of the hardest things about keeping a positive attitude (or about self improvement in general), is remembering to constantly focus on the desired end result.
Life throws lots of negativity at us and it can sometimes get to the point where lashing out against the onslaught is nothing less than self defense. However, if you create a negative state of mind by reacting in a less than positive manner – no matter how justified that reaction may be – you will still have created that negative state of mind.
If you need to, bust out your Jedi mind control and get those emotions under control, lest they control you!

2) Take out the Trash

As you learn more and more about having a positive attitude), it may become easier to take on the belief that the higher you get, the more you can look down on others. Don’t do that.
However, no matter how open-minded and understanding you manage to become – even in the face of adversity – there will always be people who regularly insist on bringing negativity into your life. Get rid of them.
Yes, yes, I know. You can’t get rid of your family members, you can’t fire you co-workers, blah, blah, blah. No, you may not be able to completely get rid of them, but you can limit your interaction with them, and you can tell them to take a hike when they are being negative.
What’s the worst that could happen? Some negative family member or annoying co-worker stops talking to you?? Don’t be afraid to tell negative people to get out of your bubble!

3) Reach for the Golden Nuggets

Okay, so what about those situations where there is negative energy, and you just can’t get away? Look for the good!
There is some positive aspect to even the most mind-numbing situations, and by finding that silver lining, you can turn a perceived bad set of circumstances into something that works towards your own interests.
Having trouble figuring out how to be happy about obnoxious teenagers, what is good about your jerk of a boss, or what possible positive outcome could happen as a result of your car breaking down?
Each of these things gives us contrast. They teach us how to behave (or not behave), they teach us to be better prepared, or they simply teach us to enjoy the times in our lives when those circumstances are not present.
Would you really know how to appreciate a roaring fire and a cup of hot cocoa if you had never come close to freezing to death after walking a mile in the snow after your car broke down?

4) Plan your good Samaritan Effort

Every day, plan to do something completely selfless. No, it can’t be something that looks selfless, but is actually all about you. It has to be something that you do for someone else, and you expect absolutelynothing in return.
This act doesn’t have to be some major undertaking, either. Do a chore around the house that you normally wouldn’t do. Bring your co-worker a cup of their favorite beverage from the coffee shop. Buy someone lunch. Help an elderly person load their groceries into their car.
Do something like that every day. In fact, plan it out in advance, so that you are sure to get it done. Can’t see what helping other people has to do with becoming a positive person?
Try it every day for a week and then come back and post a comment on this blog about how great you feel!

5) Plaster a Smile On

When all else fails, smile like you mean it – even if you don’t! Human beings are naturally social creatures, and even if we are in the foulest of moods, by interacting with other people in a positive manner, we start the slow or even sudden climb to feeling more positive.
Whenever I workout at the gym, I have zero interest in talking to other people. I am there to workout, I am very focused, and I would prefer not to be disturbed.
However, when someone motions for me to help them with something, and I begrudgingly take off my headphones so I can hear what they are saying, something miraculous happens:
I help them, or answer their question, and then I feel better afterwards! Even if I just wrap my headphones back around my head and go back to working out in my undisturbed manner, I always feel better for having interacted with and assisted another person.

6) Mainline the Good Stuff

Experience positive and uplifting circumstances throughout each day. It’s just not possible to run around in a negative mood all the time if you consistently experience and appreciate things that you consider to be positive.
Everyone has their own definition of what is positive for them, but here is a brief list of things that you can experience frequently throughout each day:
  • Affirmations – No, not affirmations that you say (although those are great, too), but rather affirmations that you see. Put uplifting messages on your computer wallpaper or around your office, set up your email program to send you affirmations at certain times each day, use your cell phone or PDA to send yourself positive messages and reminders at preselected intervals.
  • Audio content – Listen to empowering audio while you are driving, on your computer, or on your portable music player when you are working out. Again, by constantly inputting positive information, it just won’t be possible to maintain a negative state of mind.
  • Look around – Everyone has things in their immediate surroundings at any given time that they can be grateful for. However, if you don’t take the time to consciously appreciate those things, you will get into the habit of just taking them for granted. Every few hours just stop what you are doing, and for 5 minutes just look around wherever you are and appreciate things that you normally just take for granted.

7) Remember why you Care

And last, but hardly least, remind yourself several times per day (or several dozen!) that you want to have a positive outlook on life, and remind yourself about why you even care.
You can use exercises like those mentioned above all day long, but if you don’t have a true desire to actually have a positive attitude, then these types of activities won’t do you much good. If you choose to live your life as a positive person, then you must have some reason for choosing that path.
Each time a potentially negative influence crosses your path, remind yourself of your reason for wanting to be a positive person. Your desire to be positive will outweigh your desire to have a negative reaction to the outside stimulus, and after awhile this entire process will become second nature.

Getting Ahead In Life With Personal Development

It can be hard to know where to start a self-development program. Your personal being is so multifaceted, it's almost impossible to comprehend. Where, then, do you start? This article was written to guide you in the ways of doing simple things that will help you develop personal goals. In this article you can figure out what it takes to become successful.

Stress is one of the biggest enemies of happiness. When our minds undergo stress, this actually damages our whole body, physically and mentally. So that we think clearly and work toward our goals in life, it is important that we eliminate stress from our minds. Each day, take time to quiet your mind and relax. You can increase how good you feel about yourself and how at peace you feel by using this time to relax.

Try and surround yourself with people who think like you do. This helps strengthen your resolve, reinforces positive thinking and keeps you away from toxic people that harm your dreams and goals.

Be sure to read positive books on the subject of personal development. The best personal development books can give you new ideas and advice that could change your life forever. Look for a book that is backed by very positive and very credible reviews because certain personal development books are written terribly.

Use your core principles to guide you as you begin to take action. Everyone has basic principles by which they define themselves. If you apply your principles to your daily life you will feel better about yourself and the choices you make. Even better, when you act on your principles, you will become more consistent without having to make any effort to do so. This is an excellent trait to be cultivating.

By being a leader, you can help improve your personal development. There are many different facets of leadership, but the one people talk about most is the ability to win friends and influence people. Understand the events in your life that make up your leadership journey. Which past events have had major, formative effects on your life? Consider how you have grown because of these events. What personal qualities do you have that make you a good team player? When you can answer those questions, you'll know how to be part of a team.

You cannot provide care for others unless you care for yourself. No matter what point you are in on your journey, you should always take time to breathe.

Whatever you need, and whatever you decide to do about it, you must at least do one thing. Make the choice to be active in life and avoid being a spectator. Being a passive observer to the world around you removes you from the game entirely. Do not let that happen.

As you can see, personal development is simpler than it looks. By breaking your personal development process into small, manageable goals, you'll find yourself closer to your goals by the end of every day. You'll be able to practice what you're seeking to adopt as habit, and you'll increase your own morale to continue. These tips are only a springboard, it's up to you to build a better life.

Are You Rewarding Yourself for Hard Work?

Over the past few months, things haven’t been the same with me.
Finding research data and writing the eBook has been eating up most of my time.
I have to apologize to all my blogging friends because I haven’t been able to visit and comment on their blogs as much as I wanted to.
Anyway, the topic in question is – Are you rewarding yourself for hard work? Do you think rewarding yourself for hard work is necessary?
Absolutely, in my opinion!
Anyway, here’s how I’ve been working hard lately.
Without revealing much details about my eBook, there is a lot of unique information in it and the approach I (and my co-author) make in the book are very very unique and surprising. I hope the book lives up to this little hype I’m creating and for the hard work we’re putting in.
Anyway, for the approach we’ve chosen, large amounts of information is necessary so as to make the eBook as lucid as possible. Also required are a large number of case studies, real life examples of breaking away from negativity.
The surveys really helped a lot. I got some really great cases of negativity and positivity. That actually allows me to attend to people’s problems on a more personal note. Nice!
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the survey and gave me such vital information.
On the other hand my co-author put in a really helpful hand. He brought in some really unique case studies of how people face negativity and their even more unique ways to tackle and break away from them. Hard work from him as well. A pat on the back!
So this, basically has been eating most of our time. I haven’t been able to write much on my blog either. It’s been almost a month since I’ve written a post here.

On the other hand, the new academic year has begun and I have been quite busy with it as well.
A lot of other tiny little things too have been eating up my time. It is not that I’m blaming these things but the sad fact is I totally haven’t been able to read my favorite blogs.
I’m totally clueless as to what you’d do had you been in my position but the fact remains that I have been putting in the hard work of late and the question here is – Am I rewarding myself for the hard work? Do you think I should?
I for one, certainly think that I should. So how exactly should I reward myself for hard work?
Playing the guitar… Well, it’s both hard work and fun as I’m still in the learning stages of it. Other than that, I’d like to take a big break from the things I’m into right now.
Me and my uncle are quite close and he has promised a great and exciting weekend for me this week. I have no clue whatsoever about what we’d be doing but one thing is for sure that we’ll have a lot of fun.
He’s a great guy to be with, knows exactly what I enjoy, we share similar tastes in movies, music and what not. I’m really looking forward to it and let’s hope that it turns out to be a great and fitting ‘reward’ for my ‘hard work’.
I know it’s gonna be great!
What about you? Are you rewarding yourself for hard work?
Well, you’ve heard my story. What about you? Are you working hard on something particular? How has it been going? Time for a break?

Is It Important To Be On Top?

Image courtesy of: “Chuck Felix” / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Are you someone who doesn’t let life happen to you, but are one who makes life happen for you?

Overview of Article about Being ‘On Top
A wonderful man, Jon, recently came into my life, and he planned a trip to St. Louis, MO.  It was our first vacation together so it was an important experience in sharing and trust.  There was a discuss we had    about some scenery, which Jon made an interesting observation and gave rise to conversation for us.

I’m Trippin’
The first day was spend seeing some of the sights of the city, getting my nails done (had to do something while he had business to take care of) and just enjoying being together. I’m going to talk about something Jon and I just discussed.
The next day we got up early  and traveled on Amtrak from St. Louis to Kansas City, MO.  It is my first Amtrak ride, I loved it!  It’s so nice knowing there are still special experiences and new ways to live life to the fullest
The ride was smooth with just a little rocking motion, which helped me relax (and Jon  sleep).  The scenery was great, which brings me to the point of this post.  We passed by a small town, which had a wooded hillside in the background overlooking the community below.
I said to Jon, “Look how pretty it looks with the houses dotting the landscape above the town.”
Jon said, “It’s always important for people to be on top?”
This caused me to pause for a moment since it was such a thought-provoking statement and meant more than the obvious.

What Does It Mean to be On Top?

  • My First Thoughts.

  1. “On Top’ of what?”
  2. “Is it really important to be on top?”
  3. “Why is important?”
  4. “What does this mean to me/you?”

Being On Top and What It Really Means
First question made me think how often the powerful and wealthy are often thought of being more important and a bit above others.  Of course, this isn’t said out loud, but one can detected an air of endowment with some of the rich.  I have met people who the world or society is not even aware of, yet they have influenced me and others in such a way that we are forever changed.
I’m reminded of a woman I knew when I was 16-18, who was about the age I am now (greater than 55 and happy with myself, which is a wonderful place to be).  She was  supportive, caring and helped me come to terms with my abusive father.  She and her husband helped me to take the first step towards freedom from my secluded prison known to others as my ‘home’.
Leaving everything and everyone I knew and cared about was scary, shocking and disturbing for me.  I’m sure it probably was for her and her husband as well, because they took me into their home for a night and stayed up to keep watch and making sure my father did not try to do me any harm.
She also contacted my older sister, and I was able to talk with her and get some much-needed support.  My sister and her husband paid for me to get to St. Louis where they lived, they provided for me until I could take some classes toward finding employment.
In my opinion, she is one of the most successful, loving and important people in the world.  ‘Did she gain great wealth or power?’  Probably not.  Did she make a great difference in the world so that everyone knows her name.  Again, probably not.  Is she important and ‘on top’ in my book?  Absolutely!

Why is being ‘on top’ important to you/me?
Every person, at some point in their life, will decide what is important to them.  If a person fails to make a conscious decision, they have, in fact, decided.  Are you ‘on top?’  If so, how would you describe what this means?  If not, what do you think of this topic?
I decided many years ago what was important to me, and what I felt success (being ‘on top’) meant.

Steps I Took to Create Success for Myself

  1. It is important to teach my children they are loved; they are loveable and they can accomplish anything if they want it badly enough and are willing to work for it.
  2. It is important to be positive and turn around the negative things that have happened, and will happen, to me into something positive.
  3. It is important that I am able to influence others to stretch farther than the average person and create a  life of love, joy, peace and balance.
  4. It is important that I realize it is up to me to decide my success and do it on my own terms.
  5. “Am I know throughout the world for anything special?”  No.  (Not yet anyway!)

What is Means to Me to Be ‘On Top’

“Am I an important person?” Yes-to myself and to those who love me.
“ Do I have lots of money or power?” No.
“Is my blog visited by the famous or those of notoriety?”  No, but my readers visit because they want to hear a message of living life to the fullest.  They visit because they care about their life and the welfare of humanity.
“Would I like to have lots of money and power?”  Yes, however, only if I use the wealth to better myself as a person and the people I meet.”
“Am I happy with my life and feel successful?”  Yes.
“Do I want more to come of my writing/blog?” Of course!

Now It’s Your Turn!
I have told you my own thoughts on this topic of being ‘on top.’  What are yours?  Do you have a story, a thought, a comment or something you would like to share?  I hope so, and hope you will comment in the section below.
While you’re at here, please subscribe to my blog posts, share this post with your friends and follow me on social media sites.

Till next time, may Light make your path clear, may Wisdom be your guide and may Love lead you in this journey called “Life”.

Getting Ahead In Life With Personal Development

It's a big step to admit that you have to work on your well being. Here is a collection of tips to get you started on the right track.

Stress can greatly interfere with your mood. Feeling stressed can influence your mood and your body. Letting go of stress can be the key to better thinking and meeting our goals with clear purpose and calm intent. Take some time off regularly to relax and reflect. This peaceful mental relaxation will refresh your mind, and improve your inner self.

Become a more well-rounded person by developing your leadership qualities. Leadership has many different definitions, but the common theme is influence. Identify the leadership qualities you possess. What events shaped your life and personality? How have those events changed you? What do you feel makes you a good team player? By considering these questions, you can determine how to fit into a team-related setting.

Humility is a key factor in personal development. If you admit that you are simply a tiny part of this world, you will begin to recognize how much you still have to learn. Once you absorb this fact, you will have a desire for further knowledge and understanding.

Write yourself a pep talk. Write a list of each of your good points and attributes on an index card. Keep it with you, and pull it out if you are feeling discouraged. Take it a step further and record yourself reading your list. Are you wondering why you should do this?

Aim to make each day better than its predecessor. Always work towards making improvements. Push yourself to do something better today than you did the day before.

If you are depressed, pay attention to your complex carb intake and boost it. A lack of complex carbohydrates can lead to a depletion of serotonin. Raw vegetables along with fresh fruits, whole grains and nuts are good sources of complex carbohydrates.

Head to a movie with your best friend if anxiety is a problem in your life. This activity will force you to be around others, but you do not have to talk to them very much, which will minimize your discomfort. It will also allow you to get used to being around lots of people.

Give your energy to the things that are most important in your life. By concentrating your emotional energy on the positive aspects of everyday life and shutting out the negative, you will be on the road to inner peace.

Avoid the temptation to comfort yourself with a shopping spree. If you find yourself shopping out of habit, take up a hobby to replace the time spent shopping. You can relieve stress, reduce credit card bills and enjoy your time much more.

Simplify your life by getting organized. If you are able to get your life organized and keep it that way, you will see a real boost to your self-confidence. This also helps relieve you from stress caused by disorganization. The knowledge that everything is located in its proper place is calming.

Give some tips a chance and if you notice any change in feelings or your thoughts make a note about it. Go ahead, relax, and take a break.
